I am a reclaimed Dork or Doorq™ as they like to say around here. Personally I thought I transcended high school cafeteria politics and college obscurity. I certainly thought I purged my dork gene by becoming a Gay™. I started moisturizing and using goop for my hair. I matched my shirt with my pants and threw away anything Hawaiian or Corduroy. Though now I wish I could have my corduroys back [insert sadness here]. And I started using words like “dude” and “Fabu” in the same sentence. I even make movies about hot gay dudes doing hot gay things from serious to absurd. (www.judaskissmovie.com)
However, I still love Star Trek. So much so that I star in a Star Trek web series called Hidden Frontier (www.hiddenfrontier.com). I know the difference between Pattern Enhancers and Pattern Buffers. I love to read fantasy novels like The Last Herald Mage and Alcatraz and The Evil Librarians. I love BBC nature porn like Planet Earth and Life in the Undergrowth (You haven’t seen sex until you have watched Leopard Slugs do it). I have a Disney annual pass, and I prefer the parades to the rides (because I can sing along). I’m over 30 and still love comics and cartoons, like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Kim Possible, and Invader Zim. And I think a good night out is sitting in watching BSG or Chatting online with or without the newly anointed husband. And I’m actually wearing an Hawaiian shirt right now.
O.M.G. I didn’t reclaim my dork status! I never lost it. I still love channel switching between Cartoon Network, Sci-Fi Channel and Discovery Channel. I’m annoyed that Sarah Conner Chronicles and Bionic Woman were not better shows, although Thomas Dekker is still Hotness. I never stopped being a dork. I just started being gay. Thank the Goddess for Door Q Dot Com. May you be blessed with many gay dorks so that I may not feel so eccentric.
