Keep The Videos Alive: To The Theater

REVIEW: WALL*E (OMG Amazingtastic!)
PhotobucketWALL*E Poster

Wow.

Just... Fricken wow!

I really don't know if you understand or not, but wow!

The Disney/Pixar team-supreme has made some hella good movies throughout the years, many of them ranking up there in my top favorites. After Cars though (*shudder*), I thought the magic might have ended. But, if I haven't already said it enough... WOW.

I know I lose some man-points, but I was misty-eyed through pretty much the whole damn movie. It had me laughing, crying, gasping, smiling in wonder... It's amazing how a story about a robot, a hunk of metal with only the ability to imitate life, can bring such emotion and vibrance to the big screen.

Curious robot

The story follows the little robot WALL*E, the last of a series of robots left to clean up a heavily polluted Earth while humans wait out in space. His only flaw is that he's a little on the curious side and longs for someone to share his existence with.

When the robot EVE comes to Earth unexpected one day, WALL*E's existence changes forever. He finds out that he's meant for far more than what he was made to do.

The animation is top-notching; some scenes (and no, for the smart-asses out there, I'm not talking about the ones where they used footage of real people) looked like it was real film and not animation. The landscapes were amazingly rendered, the characters were beautifully created, movement was flawless...

The music was enchanting, on the same level as haunting and curious melodies featured in Finding Nemo. At most points, you don't even notice the music, it blends in so well with what is going on in the movie.

WALL*E and EVE

The plot really is where this movie shines though... It's a movie with a message that really is entertaining to watch as well (*gags* Happy Feet... Suck it, Happy Feet fans, suck it!). It's main messages is environmental awareness, while it also uses satire and sarcasm to touch on the dangers of monopolies, the importance of thinking for yourself and the need for keeping a healthy diet and exercising.

I have to point out the excellent sense of humor in this one. Most Disney/Pixar movies are amazingly funny in their own quirky ways (again, *shudders* at the thought of Cars), but WALL*E really takes the cake. I saw it in a packed theater filled with people ranging from age 2 to age 80 and at some points, the humor was definitely a bit more slap-stick and had the little kids bouncing in their seats, cackling with delight. Though there was also adult humor thrown that had all the parents and teenagers chuckling and sharing glances. But everyone laughed at everything, just those few points had one age group more tickled than the other.

Except the point when WALL*E goes up to the top of his little house to give himself a solar charge, and when his energy bar fills up, he makes a little Mac start-up sound! That one had me and maybe three or four other people in the theater stifling giggles. It's nice to see a bit of humor thrown in there to please the different niches!

I really want to talk about the story more, but it's so much more fun to find everything out for yourself. You're going to encounter amazing characters like M-O, the Captain, the crazy Umbrella, the invincible cockroach... Trust me, it's a movie that takes you for a ride and doesn't make you sit there for two and half hours to get through it!

Just, go see it! You'll love it, you'll feel like a little empty spot in your soul has just been filled in and you'll really wish this movie was out on DVD already =)

Ty, the Deadly Blonde gives it five light bulbs out of five!
