Zac Efron and Nicholas Hoult are becoming men by jumping into the future. Get your mind out of the gutter --- not together. No, they've both signed to take roles in two upcoming big budget tales designed to help further separate them their child-actor roots.
Efron has signed on to an untitled SF project that is shades of an updated BACK TO THE FUTURE-themed film. The untitled project is a combination of two existing scripts that are being mashed together as a directing vehicle for the director of SAVING SARAH MARSHALL. Efron also managed to secure funding for a spy-thriller called FIRE, based on Brian Michael Bendis' comic of the same name. He'll be exec producing that last one.

Hoult, currently seen in the gay drama A SINGLE MAN, has signed for a role in the new MAD MAX movie set to shoot this summer.
The film is called FURY ROAD and will be directed by impresario George Miller. Hoult is playing a character called Nux. That's our word for the day, "Nux." Hoult also has a co-staring role in the CLASH OF THE TITANS remake, due out later this year.
My, they grow up fast.
