Looking for a SF series to check out but you don't have a TV -- okay, that was the best lead I could come up with on half a cup of coffee -- what do you do? Turn on the web, and click into someones exercise in imagination. But where to find those series? The web is a big place, after all.
Fret not. I've found a fun link that pulls together a fair sized chunk of the web-goodies that exist in on the world-wide-web.
SciFinal bills itself as the "last stop of independent sci-fi online." I don't know if it is the last stop, but it does look like it should be an early stop. They've catalogued 31 webseries from a variety of producers, currently inhabiting servers.
We've mentioned
Zerks Log around here before, but there are other series like
The Third Age (about a magical war on the streets of New York),
Fury of Solace (a transmedia superhero musical) and The Cabonauts (a comedy starring Nichelle Nichols.) None of them are singularly gay, so you'll have to pick and choose stuff for the SF goodness alone. Still, there are some gems in the bunch. If you can get past the varying production values, acting and mishmash of good and bad scripts -- and if you watch regular TV or go to the movies, how can any of that be a problem -- you should find something here to enjoy.
